Abandoned church in Dollard, Saskatchewan August 10, 2017. It looked like a substantial church in its day. Dollard was founded in 1910. About thirty people live there now.
What Jenn said. I always picture in my mind what it might have looked like back when it was being used. Ladies in their Sunday finery - men looking uncomfortable in suits and ties - preacher shaking hands at the door as folks are leaving. I guess my imagination is working overtime. :)
My brother can remember stories of our father and grandfather being part of a group of the church folks moving the church from about 5 miles south of town to where it stands today. They used horses to pull the church on wagon wheels.
I like the look of this old church, nice find!
ReplyDeleteThat's a nice one. I'm hoping to see it again in just a few days.

ReplyDeleteThis happened in about 1930 when it was moved to make it more centrally located to the parishioners.
