Bald Eagle

Spotted late last year on a country road near Sherwood, North Dakota.

Nature working overtime...the late afternoon winter light adds a brilliant glow to the photos.

How to easily fix mechanical problems on a 2012 Kia

Buy a different vehicle. The Kia needed brakes and some other work. While driving by a car lot I saw a 2010 Ford Ranger 4.0l V6 2WD with under 75,000km on it. So I bought it.

There is nothing really wrong with the Kia and I plan on doing the repairs at a later date. For the time being I just wanted something different. The truck is definitely better suited for the back roads in Alberta.

St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Tudor, Alberta

There is nothing really at Tudor, Alberta except for this church.

I believe the church is abandoned.

Trying to get out and enjoy summer

Weird summer in my corner of the world so far. Numerous rainy days and some storms with thunder and lightning. When summer does make an appearance it is glorious.

I just need some time to get out and about to enjoy the sun.

North of Edmonton, just west of Bon Accord, north on Lily Lake Road (also known as Range Road 235) you will find a little place named Fedorah. On one side of the paved road is two churches and opposite one church is the old Fedorah School. Opposite the other church is an old hall. This is all that is left of what once was here.

Ukrainian Catholic Church.

Two churches on the same side of the road, looking north along Lily Lake Road.

Former Fedorah one room schoolhouse.

Former hall across from the Orthodox Church.

An International Event

On my trip to Eastend, Saskatchewan a few weeks ago I came across these abandoned International Harvester trucks and tractor.

I stopped at a farm about a mile down the road to see if it was all right to walk in to take some photos. Lucky for me the farmer owned the land and said to "go for it!"

It was a half-mile trek up to the site but I think it was worth it. There had been lots of rain so the crops and prairie were green and lush, the sky was brilliant blue.

Most of the other abandoned machinery was made by Cockshutt Farm Equipment.

An old I.H. stepside.

Seems like most of the old farm trucks I come across were either green or red and white.

One last shot and back to the car.

It was a beautiful day in southwestern Saskatchewan.

The fields here are a brilliant yellow

Rising to the Occasion

On my way to the Empress Cemetery I saw this herd of cattle just south of Empress, Alberta.

This one decided to rise to the occasion.

Crescent Falls, Alberta July 21, 2019

One of my favourite spots a little west of Nordegg, Alberta six kilometres off the highway.

I try to get here at least once a year.

Rural Saskatchewan Anglican Church

Near Fort Pitt, Saskatchewan.

Nicely maintained. I do not think it sees regular use.

Lightning rod. Amazing how many buildings burned down years ago due to lightning.

Chainsaw carved teenage mutant ninja turtle.

Coffee Break

This is a spot where I often stop for a coffee break.  It's just on the western edge of town but it feels like "being in the country."

On this particular day in late June there was a golden eagle (I'm pretty sure that's what it was anyway) in the tree across the way.

The Minneapolis Threshing Machine Company

It was time for a break from gardening so I decided to make an overnight road trip to Eastend, Saskatchewan this past week. On the way I passed through Piapot where I found some relics of the past. Enjoy!

This steam powered beast makes a statement!

An old boiler tank.

A virginia creeper vine has almost covered this piece of machinery...I'm not sure what's underneath.

Lots of steam-powered equipment came from Minneapolis.

A beauty!
