Asking the important questions

I really want to know what is happening with my socks. A few times a year I have to go out and buy a bunch of socks. Before they go into the wash I check that each sock has a mate. Somehow from the dryer to the dresser I end up with some single socks. Over time this results in incrementally fewer socks. I am sure I am not the only one experiencing this. Maybe I should buy shares in a sock company.

I am at the point where once again I am facing a critical shortage of socks. This does not happen with other items of clothing. No one loses a pair of jeans in the wash. Again I will gather up all of the single socks and consign them to the trash and buy some socks in bulk. There is probably an opportunity for someone to come up with a really cheap GPS tracking system to track your socks so you do not have to continually buy them.

  1. The get sucked into the space behind the dryer drum. True story. Saw it on the interwebs so it must be true.

  2. I don't have a dryer and it happened here too, with my socks and my son's.He is in north Europe now and i must ask him if there is a same problem there too.

  3. I usually buy a 6-packs of navy socks, gray socks, and black socks. I don't buy them all at one time but when my last purchase of gray (or any color) gets down to 2 pairs I start watching the sell ads. I will buy another 6-pack of gray. Some are lost but most I will wear a hole through. When one wears though it gets tossed and the other waits on the side of the sock drawer until it get a mate.

I have been doing this for most of my adult life.

    1. Pretty much the same here except I have to have some dress socks as well.

  4. Hmmm... I was doing laundry at the laundromat & I stopped to spin the washer tub when finished & found a single sock attached to where I could not see it just by looking in. I can't tell you how impressed I felt!
I figure a pair of pants is a lot bigger than a pair of socks, harder for them to hide.
The real question is why do we call pants a pair?

  5. I'm Not Saying It Was Aliens, But It Was Aliens.....

  6. I have solved this pesky problem by putting all my socks loose in a basket. When I get ready to put my socks on, reach in and pull out two socks, put them on, and I'm away. They don't have to match, or even be the same style. One of the plus of getting older.
