Below the sign is a plaque commemorating the one hundred year anniversary of the Owens family farm that was started in 1906. They likely operated the post office. I stumbled across this wandering through Saskatchewan on June 10, 2016.
This one really is in the middle of nowhere. There is nothing for miles in every direction at this marker. I always find it interesting how places once existed and vanished without a trace.
I think that's what fascinates me about the pictures you show. The fact that something of consequence existed in these places and now there is nothing but a marker...and I'm sure there are many more places without even that. The "what happened here" is intriguing.
