Really need to start posting one of these days . . .

Busy. One of the many times life gets in the way.

My aunt, who used to reside with my mother, has moved into an assisted living facility. She needs hands on care. I have been spending more time with mom lately. I look after her bills and pick up her groceries. Working five days a week and spending one day on the weekend with mom leaves little time for me. This is not a complaint, it is reality.

There are places I can get to in a day. The problem now is snow is melting and the backroads are getting soft. So that has put a damper on things. I have also not been out much as the budget took a hit from vehicle repairs and a few other items. The attempt at a retirement fund had some money thrown into it. I put some funds aside as I think I might have to pay when my taxes are filed. I have finally got all my information, I just have to drop it off at the accountant. I used to do my own taxes and in the last few years it got a little more complicated so I have someone else do them. If my lotto numbers ever hit . . .

Walking to my vehicle this morning I suddenly felt my legs go out from under me and I landed flat on my back. Everything feels somewhat okay, tomorrow morning when I wake up will be the true test.

  2. Ouch indeed - hope you aren't too bruised today.

  3. Been there - the job taking 5 days (looong days!) plus most of one to take care of Dad's finances and visit, then most of the last day trying to keep ahead of laundry, dust bunnies, etc. I don't see any complaining in your words. No words about poor me, or how terrible you have it. I confess though, sometimes the line between explaining/complaining/blaming can get pretty blurry.
I remember the in-laws living on gravel. In spring it could be quite the convoluted route to get out to the nearest highway. Frost boils that a car could (and sometimes did) get stuck in and need a pull out or worse - throw a car driven too fast by the unwary into the ditch.
I hope you are feeling better.

  4. Well, how were you this morning? Will you get to do a Irish jig on St Paddy's Day?

    1. Slightly sore shoulder. Otherwise fine.

My ancestors came from Scotland. So no Irish jig.

  5. There's been a lot of falling this year. I still have a sore wrist from a bad fall on the ice. The back of my Samsung Galaxy is shattered from the fall and that hurts more than the wrist. It's melting fast today so I might be good for five months when the snow and ice returns.

  6. Sorry to hear about the fall - not something that bears repeating.
As for taxes, I flatly refuse to do them myself and happily pay the price for someone else to do the deed.
