Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Leeshore, Alberta

If there ever was a Leeshore this church is the only thing that remains. This is north of Bruderheim, Alberta. A lot of Ukrainian Catholic and Orthodox churches in Alberta have really long names.

The bell tower on this one is interesting.

Very well kept. It is rare to run across a Ukrainian church that is not well cared for.

  1. Shame there wasn't someone to let you in this one!

  3. When I saw this lovely old church there was about 18" of snow covering the ground and the temperature was -25°C. I see now that it looks great in warmer weather as well. The stone bell tower with the blue-painted insets makes a statement! You did ring the bell?

  4. Cool bell tower! We have run a bell or 2 at a Ukrainian Church!

  5. I think it's interesting that the bell tower is a separate structure - not something that's often seen here (altho' I can't say that I've been in an area where there are any Ukrainian churches).
