Paynton Ferry, Saskatchewan July 1, 2017

Since I have taken all of the Alberta ferries I have set my sights on Saskatchewan. Taking all of the Saskatchewan ferries will be a little harder due to the travel involved. This will be my fifth ferry in Saskatchewan.

The ferry crosses the North Saskatchewan River. The ferry system is a little different in Saskatchewan compared to Alberta. I arrived just after six in the evening. On the board was posted the usual hours and rules. Also posted was mandatory break times for the ferry operator. From 6:00pm to 6:35pm was the dinner break. You do not see this in Alberta. I checked my watch and it was 6:10pm. Nothing to do but enjoy the wait and the sun.

The ferry crossing is literally only a few minutes. It is a nice quiet spot.

  1. Paynton is a nice little town, I will have to take the ferry next time I am there!

  2. This ferry looks much like the one I took at Estuary (near Empress, SK) a month or so ago. It was about a three minute trip!
