Raven Union Church

Stopped here on my way home from a motorcycle trip on May 18, 2015.

Just in front of the steps is the highway.

A simple write up outside states a minister performed a funeral May 1, 1924 at the Raven Cemetary. It was decided to build a church on the side. The church was built in 1926 through donations, fundraising, and volunteers.

This is a very peaceful spot.

I walked the grounds. Very quiet and slightly cold.

The earliest grave I saw was from 1924. The cemetary is still being used.

I tried the door and it was unlocked. I took a photo of the inside. This is a simple church with practically no adornment. I could not find any clues as to what denomiation this is. Everything is original and well preserved.

  2. In 1925 the men of the Community cut logs and prepared them for the construction of the church. There was splendid co-operation by everyone that it was build with the understanding that any denomination may use it.

  3. I really like this place, I like the history, knowing that all denominations are welcome and joined together to build it for a united purpose. Beautiful, and still lovingly cared for. Most excellent!
