Abandoned Alberta

Abandoned farmhouse east of Elnora, Alberta.

  1. That looks larger than what I think of when I think "farm house". I don't know why, the last year of traveling I've seen some large & modern farm houses..
    Maybe it's the abandoned part?

    1. I meant to write something with this post and somehow I missed doing that. The photos are a bit "off" due to the amount of smoke in the air from forest fires. This is an abandoned farm, east of Elnora which is a small town. Usually you see long abandoned farmhouses in Alberta and Saskatchewan being smaller.

It was a 'grand' house in its day. There was even a parlor that only visitors were allowed to enter and sit. It was a 2 story farm house, and family home. Aunt Myra made the best cookies....

    3. PS. the front porch has been torn off or blown down over the years , it was the focal point of this lovely old house.

  2. Have you ever thought about combining metal detecting with your photography?

    1. No. Only because I used to collect stuff and I got out of the habit years ago. The only thing I collect now is photos.

  3. I always though this place looked spooky. Even when I was there on a bright sunny day.

This is my Uncle Arthur and Aunt Myra Downes house. I spent many a day here when I was young. We lived just 4 miles East of this house on a farm.
