Westerdale, Alberta

I usually never stop at these little roadside churches. They usually seem to be put up as a roadside attraction and nothing else. This one is beside a very well kept graveyard and is very neat and it looks like it functions as a church when you look inside the windows, there are pews and a pulpit. Someone takes great care of this so it is important to someone. Across the road is a little community hall and the rundown remains of what I think is a schoolhouse.

  2. Had me going there for a minute! It's a replica of the original which had been torn down.

    1. You are right. I had originally written that in my draft for this post. Then after reviewing it I thought I was stating the obvious, better to let the pictures speak for themselves. The stone marker probably was not cheap and it was likey a bit of work to get it there. Therefore it had significance for someone.

  3. I have visited this little church before and I remember thinking it was a shame that I couldn't have seen the original. Tonight I was browsing through some old photos while working on another project and I found photos I took of Westerdale Church back in 2007. I wasn't 100% sure where it was so I did a quick internet search and stumbled across this posting. Turns out I had seen the original but had completely forgotten! I'll likely do a quick write-up on my site and show the photos.
