The bridge is located between Yellow Creek and Meskanaw on Highway 41 and crosses over McCloy Creek. At 1,417 feet long and 50 feet high, it is the longest trestle bridge in Saskatchewan. It was built in 1929 by the Canadian National Railway and the last train crossed the bridge in 1979.

It doesn't look particularly safe to walk on but definitely an impressive sight. We have a beautiful trestle bridge not too far from here and if you're interested you can read about it here... https://www.blogto.com/travel/2021/07/doubes-trestle-bridge/
ReplyDeleteJust a clarification of the terms:
ReplyDeleteA trestle bridge is a bridge composed of a number of short spans supported by closely spaced frames. A trestle (sometimes tressel) is a rigid frame used as a support, historically a tripod used to support a stool or a pair of isosceles triangles joined at their apices by a plank or beam such as the support structure for a trestle table. Each supporting frame is a bent. A trestle differs from a viaduct in that viaducts have towers that support much longer spans and typically have a higher elevation.(Wikipedia)
