Off visiting mom today. On the way back I heard one of those noises that you really do not want to hear. I found a spot to pull off the highway and discovered more than the usual flat. If you are going to get a flat you might as well get one you can brag about. The tire was not that old.
Wow! Reminds me of some truck tires I've seen.
ReplyDeleteMajor blowout! Yikes!
ReplyDeleteThat is an under inflation blowout. Probably picked up a nail or ?? that leaked slow enough to let the tire sidewall heat up and blow. Nasty devils for sure. I assume you made a safe stop and "repair".
ReplyDeleteI likely picked up a nail. I have had four flats in the last year. The tire gods hate me.
DeleteDamn BW, that its ugly. Are you able to save the rim? Looks like a complete set of "sneakers" are in order for your car. ;)
ReplyDeleteI have eight spare tires on rims. Ran across a couple of good deals on rims and tires a few years ago.
DeleteHoly crap! That's downright scary! I'm glad you were able to get to safety. Wow.
ReplyDeleteThat's beyond incredible. When driving truck I had a wheel unexpectedly lock up at 100 clicks per and even it didn't shred as bad as that.
ReplyDeleteThat's a stealth, goes-flat-slowly, likely at speed. Then the rim and pavement eats what's left of the tire, if your "mother's ear" doesn't catch it first. Likely why you can't buy anything anymore without poxy tire pressure indicators.
