Quick update . . .

Mom appears to be progressing quite nicely. As mentioned previously she is in a rehabilitation facility getting treatment to recover from her stroke. They are making her exercise and be active, which is slightly amusing to me since mom was not all that active in the first place. She is getting more exercise than before her stroke. There are a lot of seniors who are constantly on the go. Mom is not one of those, she is more of a homebody. She looks good and they are working on getting her back walking. From what I understand they are keeping her until at least the end of July and will assess her progress then.

Blogging has taken a bit of a hit. I managed to get out for a day and found a few interesting things. The highlight of my day trip this last weekend was to catch the Paynton Ferry in Saskatchewan. I got there and the ferry was closed with no explanation. I am guessing it is not operating due to high water levels. The North Saskatchewan River is muddy and running high. It would have been nice if they posted that it was closed at the turnoff instead of me driving over ten miles to turn the corner and descend down the final stretch to a closed sign on the approach with loader blocking it. That took a lot of backtracking to get on the highway back home because I drove to the ferry on the north side of the river. The south side would have been a minor inconvenience because the major highway is not far from the south side. What was kind of funny is a vehicle arrived at the ferry crossing at the south side the same time as I arrived on the opposite side. Not everything can always go according to plan.

A reader of this vastly underappreciated blog has sent me a few photos and has graciously allowed me to post them. I just have to squeeze in some time to put together a post with what he sent me.

  4. Happy to hear your Mom is doing well - even though I'm sure a lot of that exercise is being done under duress! Hopefully it will create a new habit that she will carry on once she's released.
