Upsala - Not in Sweden

On a recent loooong drive between Winnipeg and Toronto, I noted an abandoned church in Upsala, Ontario. On our way back, I stopped briefly to take a long distance photo of the church.

I believe this is/was a Catholic church.

Upsala is a well known city and region in Sweden. Upsala, Ontario wasn't settled by Swedes but by 1900 there was a strong Swedish influence in the town and many Scandinavians lived in and around the town.

  1. Didn't they let you get closer? I've been to the other Upsala. I didn't know that there was one in Canada.

  2. The old church looks great in that sea of yellow. Nice to see the bell still in the tower.

My paternal grandfather was born in Uppsala, Sweden.
