A small cemetery I visited in the Lac Pelletier area of Saskatchewan late this past winter. It is well cared for and obviously loved.
The footprints at the "Angel" gravesite are from a family member who was just leaving as I arrived. We had a nice chat about life and death and all those things that happen in between.
The deep sea blue of the shadows are so striking at that time of year.

Damn if that doesn't look a lot like the angel that nearly killed me...
ReplyDeleteI'll bite...
DeleteActually, it was the antibiotics the doc gave me because of the angel debacle that nearly did me in...

I remember reading that post.
DeleteNice post Michael. I spent time at Lac Pellitier as a kid!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jenn. I think I saw about a dozen old cemeteries near here.
DeleteJudging from the cemetery's name, must be a Mennonite community, I would think.
ReplyDeleteIt is a large Mennonite community and there are several cemeteries in the area.
DeleteCremation makes more and more sense the closer I get to the end. I think graveyards should have a snack bar.
ReplyDeleteAt the very least I think cemeteries should have a picnic table. Best picnics I ever had were at cemeteries.
Deletemaybe some playground equipment. A slide and some swings! :-)
DeleteFun at the cemetery! That would be a great time to teach children to have respect for those who came before us. I'm all for it.
