Minor rural Alberta history

The site of the one room Square Butte School 1922 - 1950, not far from Millarville, Alberta.

The second sign says through the years the school had seventy-five students and twenty-four teachers. High teacher turnover in rural schools was pretty common. 


  1. One-room school teachers had a tough, tough life. Not a job I would have wanted.

  2. Two hills in the immediate area, at various times have had the name Square Butte. We've been up both of them. Now you know...
