Dummer, Saskatchewan started as a town around 1912. One internet source said a post office in the area started using the name Dummer in 1909. The last residents moved out in 1993.
A few quick images. It started to snow when I was there and was only able to get a few shots.
You can street view this place on Google Maps.

A true ghost town!
ReplyDeleteLove that first photo!
ReplyDeleteThere must be ghosts present.
ReplyDeleteThe second structure is interesting - it looks like a house and yet it has lightning rods which I don't typically see on houses.
ReplyDeleteIts the former community hall actually
DeleteThat teal-ish colour in the one house we've seen on many others out on the prairies. Given the frugality of rural folks, there must have been a big sale somewhere.
ReplyDeleteNeat! Maybe they all moved to Smarter.
ReplyDeleteI visited Dummer in 2014, mind you there was lots of abandonment still there. Items on the shelves, old cars parked by the houses... Unfortunately some vandals/pickers have come to this ghost town and wrecked & taken items. A few houses have disappeared since.
ReplyDeleteDid anyone snag the contents of the plaque (I think) in front of the community hall. Appears to face the hall for some reason...

My bad. Marks the site of the Dummer School
