A few miles north of Carmel, Saskatchewan (where there is not much) sits a shrine on top of the highest hill in the area. In some lonely and out of the way places in Saskatchewan I have run across shrines. I do not know why they picked this spot other than it has a commanding view of the countryside.
I stopped here on April 20, 2019.
Someone obviously went to a lot of trouble and expense to put that shrine there. I always like to see a representation of the Divine Feminine in any one of her many guises.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful shrine.
ReplyDeleteI can't make out the writing on the upper ledge, but the Latin on the second ledge translates to 'help of Christians'.
Thank you for sending the close up of the top part. It translates to "Mary of Mount Carmel"
DeleteVery beautiful! It's a wonder, when it's on the highest bit of ground, that lightning hasn't found it over the years.
ReplyDeleteLooks to be more popular place than the location would indicate. It has its own Wiki page even!
