Amity School 1908 - 1951

Former one room school near Strome, Alberta. Someone turned it into a granary after it ceased being a school.

  1. I was out somewhere & there was corn piled on the ground next to the elevators, good sized hills of corn.

I guess when you have to put to put your grain somewhere, it has to go somewhere & an old school house sounds like a better place than to pile it on the ground.

    1. A lot of old schools were bought by farmers to store grain. It was probably cheaper at the time than buying a granary and setting it up.

  2. Wonderful old building - wonder if it had a bell on top at one time.
