No Name Cemetery

The cemetery is located here:   51.969028, -111.539936

On an internet search it was referred to as No Name Cemetery/Sounding Lake Roman Catholic Cemetery. Sounding Lake is about thirty five miles away as the crow flies so that name seems doubtful. So I am not sure what the name is. It is a one acre plot with five marked graves. One grave is marked with a plain metal cross and no name. The most recent date on a headstone was 1934. I suspect it was a Catholic Cemetery. I could find no name posted anywhere to identify this place. There is a barbed wire fence surrounding it in good condition so someone might be looking after it. There is not much around.

  1. Appears to be a family plot for William Joseph Couturier. Julia died in 1934 but left 6 sons and 4 daughters according to his obituary Dec 30 1968. He and wife came to Coronation in 1911 from Castor AB from Michigan according to the thesis on Coronation AB published in 1951.

  2. The Nicoud connection: Mr August Nicoud immigrated from France in 1909 (Mrs August Nicoud came later in the same year as the Couturiers, 1911). Likely they were neighbors sharing the same religion and had some common ground.

    1. JI also read about the Nicoud family being that of August Nicoud. It's not a common name so that must be same Nicoud.

    2. Htere is a good writeup of the Niclous family in the book "The Beginning, A history of Coronation, Throne, Federal and Fleet Districts, published 1979, Coronation T & C Golden Age Club" pages 313-315. Apparently August was nicknamed "Gasoline Gus" due to his gas powered Thresher and was good friends with the Suntjens family that is still there. August married Julia in August 1903 and one sun Nicolas was gassed in WW1 and survived but was quite ill health. Found while researching you House on the Hill post Glen.
