Busy, busy, busy

January has been a busy month for me.

I signed up for a course every Wednesday night. It has been some time since I sat in a classroom and I am trying to make the transition to being a student and keep up with the material. I have also had a couple of training sessions on new stuff related to my job.

The final last pieces of paperwork and settlements regarding the divorce were completed in January. I spoke to three investment advisers and signed up with one who was recommended to me. Now that I am divorced I find that I have some money and I know exactly how much of it I have and where it is. Interesting how that works. It is enough that I have set up an investment account and put some away for the future. Better to invest it in some conservative investments and leave it invested for the long term.

I have been looking for a place to move into. It seems you always get the information in pieces and spread out over time about properties. Just trying to find out how much parking was available at one place took four days. Trying to set up appointments to see a property is a bit of a chore. I have been looking at an apartment style condo for a few reasons. I do not need much space and I have done the house and yard thing. I want to spend my time doing other things. If I want to go somewhere on a weekend I want to be able to lock it and leave without worrying about it.

I recently moved to be closer to mom to look after things for her. I meant to visit more frequently and that plan fell apart quickly. Weather here has been a little unpredictable so I had to shelve a few planned visits. She is a about an hour from where I now live. I did manage to see her within the last week. There are a couple of minor fixes to her car that have to done at the dealer and mom does not like to drive far these days. I have set up a date where I will pick up her car and drive it from her place into the city to get fixed, then take it back.

Things need to settle down before motorcycle season so I can get the maximum use of of my bike.

  1. I hope you find a new place soon that meets all your requirements! Yeah, screw yard work and snow shoveling, an apartment condo is the way to go!

  2. Congratulations on finally getting the divorce finished. It was a great weight off my shoulders when that date arrived for me. I agree on not getting another place that ties you down. That is why I will continue to live in an RV even when I quit traveling.
