What was St. Mark Lutheran Church

I had been to this spot one before. It was a couple of years ago in the middle of winter. There were snow drifts and it was freezing. This west of the Hanna area of Alberta. I have not been able to find out what happened to the church. This is a big plot of land with the cemetery way at the back. There is not much nearby. Further north on this road in a farmyard is a building that looks like an old church. I wonder if it is from this site. This visit was on September 30, 2017. Much better weather than the last time I was here.

A gravel road runs by this. The church marker is right beside the road. at the far end is the cemetery. With such a big plot of land they probably thought this would be a big area with lots of people when this was established. There is a small number of graves in the cemetery.

Typical markers in German Lutheran cemeteries for a certain time frame. I have seen this style in lots of places in rural parts of Alberta in a lot of abandoned cemeteries.

  2. That's a lovely gate sign. Love the old glass and metal markers too.
