Near Donalda, Alberta on October 22, 2017. It was named for a geographical feature in the area. Became a community centre after it ceased being a school. One of the smaller schools that I have seen. Boarded up and no longer used. A solid building that should last quite a few years.
Folks came to accept it as more people pulled it off.
ReplyDeleteEver since I saw this one, the curiosity to see what's inside is overwhelming. Not sure why, maybe because there are no open windows to get a peek into?
ReplyDeleteI wanted to find our where the mound part of the name came from. I now have a headache. Perhaps I might have understood what I found if I was a geologist. Apparently it was named after Waulsortian-like mounds, whatever that is. But they are found in Canada and Europe including the Russian Ural mountain region.

Looks like a new roof, so someone cares.
ReplyDeletePeople care about a lot of the rural buildings. Sometimes after some improvements they fall into disuse.
DeleteScience Mound? I LOVE that name!
