Took an overnight trip to visit a friend in Medicine Hat. Except for an extended hospital stay I have not been anywhere overnight since February 16, 2024. I wanted to see if I had the strength and stamina to do it and be able to navigate a hotel well enough.
I made a stop in Oyen to meet a friend on the way to Medicine Hat. I needed to use the restroom at the fast food place and was told the one in the building was not available due to some work being done and there was a temporary setup in an ATCO trailer. I have to move across the parking lot on crutches, avoiding icy patches, and then up two stairs on a steel staircase. One of my crutches slipped on the stair and I narrowly avoided a bad fall. I tweaked my back and left leg a bit and had to dig into my pain medication that night.
Good visit in Medicine Hat. Some people you do not see often enough.
This morning I woke up in Medicine Hat to a snowstorm. It looked to be about two inches of snow where no snow and ice existed the day before. Everything had been bare, if I saw snow in the forecast I would not have made the trip. The joys of Alberta weather. Plows were out and sanding was being done. I asked someone from the front desk help me to my car so I did not slip on crutches on the snow and take another spill.
An hour outside Medicine Hat the weather cleared and it was smooth sailing all the way home.
