I went through stuff that was rescued from my car crash. I put it off for a while after getting home for various reasons. My camera survived unscathed thanks to being in a padded bag. My iPod made it with a few dings from the crash. I was happy about that, I prefer podcasts and downloaded music instead of radio in my area. Found my glasses. They were missing both lenses and the frames were broken. Getting hit in the face with an airbag will do that. Everything else seemed to survive okay.
I had an eye appointment last Friday. Thankfully my eyes are healthy. My prescription will increase.
On my last physiotherapy appointment I had my third encounter with the anti-gravity treadmill. I doubled my previous time from ten to twenty minutes with a small increase in speed.
I had bought running shoes online. I have shoes, due to my feet swelling I cannot wear them. I usually wear a 10-11 depending on the manufacturer. The shoes I bought online did not fit when I ordered bigger sizes. I did not want to go into a shoe store as I do not have a lot of stamina yet to walk around a store. I had to break down and have someone take me to a shoe store so I could try on shoes in person. I had to walk from the parking lot into a mall which was not easy. I ended up with size 13 sneakers. Hopefully the swelling resolves itself over time.
Glad your camera and iPod made it through the crash unscathed. Just FYI, Sole Comfort and Kunitz Shoes (both stores in Edmonton's West End) have bigger sizes and specialty shoes for the hard to fit, and are in standalone stores with parking lots, so you can just park and walk right into the store rather than going into a big mall.
ReplyDeleteCompression socks are your friend. You likely lost some valves in the veins in your legs. They help pump blood back up-hill toward your heart, using the natural surges produced by muscular action.
ReplyDeleteCompression socks help compensate for that loss (or scarring).
If you aren't wearing them, first check with your doc to see what he/she says. Then if you get the OK, give them a try.
Excellent BW... you're coming along fine. We gotta do coffee one a these days. I am dealing with mobility issues too - my arse has gotten so fat - I can't move!!! But we are out every day now and slowly getting back to reasonable weight... one pound, one ounce, one kilometer at a time. We must get together and celebrate our little victories!!!

ReplyDeleteI'm using these. The size chart will guide you to the ones you need. Sounds like you might need to get some smaller ones once some of the fluid comes off. I started with the small women ones, and made it tighter by putting regular socks on first. I have two pairs of small, I was planning on trying them doubled up, and a pair of medium, with other ideas.
Anyway, the biggest improvement came from putting couch cushions on the floor and a couple of pillows in a recliner and sleeping like that. Feet elevated so it's downhill from ankle to knee. When it's time to get off the feet, take breaks in that position.
Second time I'm typing this, Internet blinked,dammitall..
Wishing you the best.
You need a soft tape measure, from the sewing kit.
Or string to wrap the ankle and calf and measure that.
What the folks above said... Glad that you are pressing forward! Keeping the swelling in check is important as is the keep working at it mentality. The write up from your discharge is mind boggling!
