Off to visit mom on Sunday. I was held up due to some kind of oil spill on Highway 39 near the intersection of Highway 20 east of Drayton Valley, Alberta. There were cleanup crews and the highway was reduced to one lane with flagmen at either end and multiple cleanup vehicles.
On the way back I took Highway 622. East of St. Francis I spotted this owl in the tree. I stopped on the highway and was lucky enough to run off multiple shots before it grew tired of me and flew off. I believe it is a Grey Owl. Taking a detour worked out well.
Owls are hard to photograph as they don't like company, so thanks for the photos.
