The Quarter Horse post

My cousin is a little north of Drayton Valley, Alberta. I dropped in April 30, 2016 to see his three new additions. On May 2, 2016 one more arrived. There was a little black one that was a little too shy to be included.

The miniature horse post

Near Drayton Valley, Alberta on April 30, 2016. My cousin has a friend who in turn owns a number of miniature horses, two miniature donkeys, and three llamas. They all seem to be pets.

The baby is just four days old when this was taken. The mother is very protective so I took a lot of photos and scrapped a lot of photos as my subject did not want to cooperate. There are fifteen chickens in the background of this photo. I did not take any chicken photos as that belongs to another blogger.

Mother and daughter taking a sprint in the pen.

This little girl is damn cute.

I like donkeys and mules. This one would let me get close and give it a scratch behind the ears. As soon as I stepped back to get a photo the donkey would do anything to ruin the shot. It was being stubborn or thinking it was funny or possibly both.

After repeated failed attempts this was my best donkey photo.

Of course this being the internet I had to eventually post the obligatory cat photo.

Abandoned church in Altario, Alberta

Encountered on April 2, 2016. Altario is practically a ghost town. No names on the church to tell what denomination or when it was built. I am somewhat religious. I do not like to see churches abandoned or dying. When people arrived to settle a place the first few buildings they put up were a church and a school. These buildings represented a sense of permanence and the future, something larger than themselves.

The top of the tower is missing. Someone probably has the bell.

The door was wide open when I found it.

This is as far as I ventured. Hopefully some of the interior went to someplace deserving.

You can see daylight at the bottom of the church. This is why I did not venture too far inside. With part of the foundation missing I did not want to test how safe the inside was. Now it is a home for birds.
