This blog used to feature bales

Sometimes it still does.

  1. I grew up on a hay farm. We had rectangular bales until I went off to college. Dad switched over to wrapped round bales at that time.

    2. No more picking up in the field to load on a trailer and then unloading it to stack it in the barn. The bale is wrapped and dropped. A tractor with a front end loader with a spike spears the bale and it is either loaded on a flatbed to be hauled off or stacked 3 high along the fence row for storage. Square bale was at least a 2 man operation. WRB was faster, cleaner, and could be a 1 man operation.

As a young man I had large shoulders and 20" biceps which I somewhat maintained till my late 40's.

  2. I got pretty daggum good with a 35 mm in the80s.. I don't think I could have gotten a shot of that hay that would have shown the character, the texture and charisma of that brave, lone bale,, She certainly must have gotten its Good side,, I can't imagine the other side Possibly being better.
Hell,if I had a Blue Ribbon I'd probably pin it to my monitor.
