I put my 2018 Kawasaki 300 Versys up for sale. I bought it late in the motorcycle season in 2023. I did some minor fixes and rode it about five times before I parked it for the winter. I was stupidly busy that time with work and looking after mom. I was excited that I would be doing a lot of riding next season.
Well, 2024 saw me in the hospital for seven months and I have not been able to ride it since. It hurts a bit putting it up for sale as I had grand plans when I bought it. Sometimes you have a change of plans.
Soon I will be down to two motorcycles.
Everybody looks at "growth" and thinks it means "picking more things up".
ReplyDeleteMaturity...and it is a hard thing...is realizing that we are finite and we have a limited number of heart-beats left in our life. We must release something that is less-important in order to free our grasp to engage the more-important.
The biggest lie of feminism (to pick on one modern movement) is "You CAN have it all." That was never true.
Letting go of something is not failing. It is growing up.
B.W., I am proud of you.
Thank you. I “might” be able to ride it next year if I improve my strength and mobility. That is a big if. Better to make realistic decisions and accept them.
DeleteA profound statement.
ReplyDeleteHard I know, but think of it this way - it will bless someone else with riding time.
ReplyDeleteFriend just sold her last bike. She had had a Shadow 350 (first to go) and a pair of Harleys. All gone now.
ReplyDeleteTwo motorcycles are a sweet consolation...
