I have been in a lot of pain lately. It is not fun.
When I see my surgeon I have not had a problem with him prescribing pain medication when requested. Which is good as I have been taking painkillers more frequently lately. My knees and hips are giving me issues. My feet hurt. I can feel pain radiating down my legs. I have spent a couple of days doing very little in the hope that the pain will subside.
I have been seeing a therapist, not a physiotherapist, a different kind of therapist. I have been discussing pain and other recovery issues with her. I have jokingly mentioned to people that I have been spending time with a woman that I pay by the hour. It has been some help. I have suffered more than just physical damage.
I seem to make some progress, take a half step or so back, level out, and start again with some periods of pain and less pain. There are no pain free days. Recently the last few days have not been some of the better days. With luck it gets better.
Relying only on what you posted in this post, I wonder if you've been poisoned. I mean, even low grade accidental.
ReplyDeleteAre you saying all of this is related to the accident? I wonder if an epsom salt rub (topically applied) would bring relief.
Peripheral neuropathy may account for some symptoms.
I am not any kind of a medical professional. I do have some of the same symptoms you describe.
I lots of metal in both legs. Knees were held together by pins. I had four operations. I do think the accident is to blame.
DeleteFor maximum effect, boil water and add epsom salt until no more will dissolve. Wrap the painful areas in washrags/towels, while it's warm .
ReplyDeleteI used to have to go to the ER with tension headaches.
I decided to try that on my neck and avoided the trip.
I hope that helps
Ohh,, whatever mess you make vacuums up pretty easy after it's dry. Of course, avoiding as much as possible is always better
ReplyDeleteThe epsom salt rub I use is a gelatin made by PROCure. It is a concentrated epsom + aloe vera. It works!
DeleteBe careful, it comes out of the squeeze bottle fast.
I have no suggestions but I'm glad that other do & hope that something helps you!
ReplyDeleteI hope that some day you will have a pain free existence again. I'm glad you have a counsellor to help process all the emotions resulting from your accident and recovery period.
ReplyDeleteI think you are an excellent example of inner strengths.
ReplyDeleteI'd have probably eaten a gun by now.
I am impressed with your fortitude.
The thought has crossed my mind . . .
DeleteI knew a guy who injured his back while working, which meant that WCB got involved. They took over his life, not in a good way. The WCB doc had 2 treatments/solutions for his back pain – drugs or surgery. The only way he could sleep was after smoking a joint and sitting in a recliner. He had 2 surgeries and still had constant pain. Managed to get an appointment at a pain clinic, after waiting for over a year. They wondered what all he had been doing to manage his pain, giving him a list of some 20 treatments and asking which he had tried. Things like yoga, meditation, massage, exercise, aquacise, reiki, acupuncture, acupressure, hypnosis, etc. etc. He was astonished at the number of options that he had never heard of, certainly not from his WCB doc who, as I said, had 2 options – drugs or surgery. This poor guy would certainly have tried any or all of the other treatments first, but now he’s stuck with 2 metal rods in his back and a painkiller dependence.
ReplyDeleteI am getting to the point where I think I will be mobile enough to join a gym. I am thinking September. When I got discharged from the hospital September 11, 2024 it took me until January 4, 2025 to gain enough flexibility to put on socks. It has taken me many months to gain strength and flexibility to do things.
DeleteDuring my fight with cancer the best thing for pain and regaining appetite after 38 radiation treatments were THC Gummies and chocolates. Better, gentler, quicker and longer lasting than the myriad narcotics prescribed.
ReplyDeleteI might have to try that.
Deletethank you for sharing, it seems a lot of people are in constant pain. i've found that overwhelming physical pain turns into mental pain heightens physical pain deepens mental pain and on and on....praying for your full recovery!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteHoly cow… and I complain from arthritis pain. I need to read your updates more often, and will add you to my prayers.
ReplyDeleteI think that weather changes affect my pain level. Some days more, some days less. So far, high heat and humidity, or incoming rain, seem to be the pain days.
Lately I’ve been using CBD balm with arnica on my joints and legs. Seems to help, especially before bed, so I can sleep. The one I use is on Amazon. Expensive, but lasts a long time.

This might be a double comment… I don’t see what I put up earlier today.
ReplyDeleteI complain about arthritis pain… but it’s nothing like what you’re going through. It seems like weather changes affect me. Hot and humid, or incoming rain. Pain some days, and not much on others.
I need to read your updates more often. I will add you to my prayers.
