I have been thinking I should be able to try using these.
I thought if I can do crutches I should be able to use these. Today I gave it a shot. Using both I managed to ungainly walk about two hundred feet. It is scary and I was sweating from the effort. I have yet to fall.
No guts no glory.
Way to go!!! :-) !!!
ReplyDeleteGo into any drug store and ask the clerk 'did you find a cane here'? They will hold up several, take your pick...
ReplyDeleteHave you ever tried the kind of crutches where there's a metal band that goes around your forearms and a handle to hold with your hand? I'm not describing them very well. I had a prof once who had polio as a youngster and walked with those kind of crutches. They always seemed a bit sturdier and more trustworthy than canes.
ReplyDeleteI think Debra had a good suggestion - perhaps worth a try, provided your medical people give the approval. Using a cane (or two) is nothing but a PIA because they're always falling over and then retrieving them from the ground isn't an easy process. Remembering to wrap the strap on the one you show around your wrist is a brilliant idea - provided one remembers to use it as such. The RC doesn't - so guess who has to keep picking the thing up.
ReplyDeleteThe rate you are going, buying a vehicle is a possibility in the near(er) future.
