I stopped at Pendant d'Orielle Cemetery on Highway 501 on May 14, 2016. My travel companion and I got to discussing whether there ever was a town to go with the cemetery. We drove to a nearby farm and hailed the farmer who was cutting grass. That is how we got to meet Norm Finstad and his wife Barb. They were the second generation of four generations on the same farmstead. Their grandchildren travel fifty miles to school. The Finstads have over thirty thousand acres and four hundred head of cattle. We asked if we could take some photos and they graciously let us take photos of whatever we wanted. I only took the following photos as found it interesting.
This is an original streetlight from Medicine Hat, Alberta in the original colours. The streetlight is one of the first electric ones, the prior ones there ran on natural gas. Norm traded some stuff for it years ago. They have a gorgeous place in the middle of nowhere.
By the way there never was a town to go with the cemetery.
