Lornedale School

The original was built in 1906. This one was built in 1947 when a bigger school was needed. Not sure when it was abandoned. It has not been used as a school since the 1960's. This is in a rural area south of Ranfurly, Alberta in an empty field. It is a unique design for the front. I have seen a few others in the area.

  1. 1947, post war immigration?

  2. I've seen others that are very similar in design to the main body of this one, but the 'addition' is interesting.

  3. Interesting school design which seems to be still structurally sound. The unique facade might indicate use for another purpose at one time. Great find.

  4. I've seen a few of similar design as well...Old Vegreville School comes to mind. The "grand entrance" adds a touch of elegance.
