Apparently my seat of the pants tax planning last year was off the mark. I dropped off all my stuff to the accountant yesterday and today I got a phone call saying that it is looking like I owe. Not happy about that.
I haven't gotten refunds in years. I plan it so I owe some so they can't be using my money for free. Also, my taxes are complicated with royalties that I can't control or plan as well as other types of income.
ah geez - that's not nice. I absolutely detest getting the income tax done but hopefully H&R Block will have good news for us. I know we won't get as much back as we did last year because the credit union screwed up our TFSA and we earned interest that will put our income up (hopefully not into another tax bracket!!)
That is money YOU GOT TO USE THIS YEAR...rather than the government. A refund simply means that YOU GAVE THE GOVERNMENT money they didn't deserve. Get the right perspective on taxes.

DeletePretty fast turnaround! I think you should also get a refund for taking the tax stuff to the accountant before April 30.
