Willow Valley School 1914

Former one room school in the foothills of Alberta. No clue on how long it was in operation. It is obvious it was used as a community centre after it ceased being a school. The school is on Willow Valley road west off Highway 22 in Alberta north of Highway 3. The road is not that far south of the Old Man River. I am not that concerned about saying where you can find it, you really have to drive a long way and it is in a somewhat remote spot.

This is the view you would get from inside the row of windows. Imagine staring at that from a school desk.

  1. The colors of the school house reminds me of a Coast Guard Light House, you have the red roof and the formula 30 white walls, all that's missing is the spruce green trim around the windows! ( I helped paint a light station back in 1977)

    That is some view!

  4. School? What? My teachers knew knew me better that that, and let me dream. And, my 4th grade biology teacher let me teach the class. Because she realized that I knew a hell of a lot more about it than she did.

    1. I intensely disliked school when I was a kid.

  5. Oh wow - that view would have certainly encouraged a lot of daydreaming!

  6. We came across this school house while taking a Sunday morning drive. The scenery in this area is just outstanding.
