  1. That is one butt-ugly porch they built on it.

  2. It looks like it was built for fighting off raids...

  4. I am amazed there are so many abandoned schools in your neck of the woods. Here, when rural schools were closed they were either sold to people who turned them into homes or they were sold, torn down and houses built on the property. The only old school houses I get to see are the ones you post. Thanks.

  5. Actually this was kind of a quick post. I should have walked around it and tried to get a look inside. In reality there really are not a lot of one room schools out there. I love to hunt them down, as do other bloggers, and will drive long distances to see one. A lot of them here were torn down, moved, burned down, or suffered other fates. I see more in Saskatchewan than I do in Alberta. I am glad that people like to see them, there are some posts where you kind of wonder if anyone likes them.

  6. Everybody loves old school houses. People commenting on them...not so much.

The porch on many of these old schools was an afterthought. The person designing them obviously had no idea what a prairie winter was all about.
