This is at Sharples, Alberta which is a short distance east from Carbon, Alberta. The elevator was really the only thing at Sharples. There used to be a rail line through here. It was torn up years ago.

A quick peek inside. I did not venture too far in. No telling how safe this might be.

Sometimes you get the bear

There are many times I go out looking for wildlife and never see anything. There are rare times when an animal will just cross the road right in front of you. This was on Highway 93 just a few miles west of Highway 1 in Banff National Park, Alberta. By the time I parked on the side, hit the hazard lights, and grabbed my camera the bear was across the road. I jumped out of the car and got a few quick photos from about thirty feet away. This was on April 29, 2017.

Likely not one of my smarter moves. My reasoning is you do not often get to see a bear.

Snowflakes in Fairmont, British Columbia

Weekend road trip on Saturday April 29, 2017. Highway 1 west of Calgary to Highway 93 over the continental divide to Radium, British Columbia south on Highway 95 to Fairmont. The trip is about three hours from where I live. Highway 93 needs to be repaved. I will be avoiding that highway with the motorcycle this year. My only reason to go was to enjoy the hot springs. In my opinion the hot springs in Fairmont are better than the hot springs in Radium. The best hot springs I have experienced so far in British Columbia are in Ainsworth. Your mileage may vary.

Of course when I got to Fairmont there was snow in the trees.

Church of God Graburn April 15, 2017

On Graburn Road south of Walsh, Alberta. Apparently this church was built by a breakaway group from the Graburn United Church which was just one mile north. This church was built in 1932. I have not found anything on when it ceased being used as a church.

You barely notice the cemetery off in the corner. There is a small cemetery. A little research done later on one sites says site says seven burials, another says eight.
