Nothing ever lasts forever

Although we would like it to.

I previously posted this before:

It was one of those places I would look for on Highway 1A between Cochrane and Banff, Alberta. On May 22, 2017 it was heavily damaged in a fire, arson is suspected. It was built in 1875 and declared an historic site in 1979. I hope they can rebuild. I drove out after work on May 25, 2017. It was a beautiful spot. What is left is fenced off and there is crime scene tape and a warning not to trespass. It is sad to lose this. This is one of the reasons I try and visit places like this when I can. One day they might not be there.

  1. Do you know what the non English lettering is in the sign?

    1. It's an alphabet commonly used to write several First Nations languages.

I've no idea what it means, though.

  2. You do us a service by recording those buildings while they still stand. I wish I had been smart enough to photograph the one room rural schoolhouse my grandfather and his neighbors built in the early 1900's and where my father received his education. It is gone now, thanks to some low-life who burned it to the ground. Keep up the good work.

  3. Sad this place is gone, sad I never took photos. Always drove by thinking it'd always be there. I should know better.
